Though Mercedes’ EQC crossover isn’t quite on the market yet, that doesn’t mean Stuttgart isn’t wholly serious about jumping into the electric car game in a major way. Shortly after the EQC is expected the EQS, a sport sedan expected to rival the likes of the Tesla Model S, the Porsche Taycan and the upcoming Audi e-tron GT.
Our spy photographer sources recently snapped shots of an EQS test mule spied just outside Mercedes-Benz factory grounds, but still with plenty of camouflage so as not to give away too much of the final design. It’s clear though that this is an aggressively low and long 4-door shape, not surprising given the intended competitive set.
The EQS will be based on Mercedes-Benz’ MEA platform set (Modular Electric Architecture). Power is expected to be delivered via a pair of electric motors, one at the front axle and another at the rear axle for an all-wheel drive configuration.
